Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has encouraged public servants in the country to avoid corrupt practices at work and adhere to ethical standards while fulfilling their responsibilities.

This statement was made on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, during training for new employees of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) held in Kaduna.

Represented by Nana Fatima Abubakar from the Public Affairs Department of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Olukoyede expressed his appreciation for initiatives that allow the Commission to engage with the public and inform them about its activities.

In a presentation titled "Overview of the EFCC Activities, Sensitization on Financial Crimes, Conduct and Importance of Ethical Behavior," Olukoyede outlined what constitutes ethical behavior in the workplace and methods to maintain such standards. He also reviewed the Commission's mission, structure, and various forms of collaboration with stakeholders in combating corruption, emphasizing the necessity for employees to comply with regulations to ensure organizational success.

He encouraged participants to view their roles at N-HYPPADEC as opportunities to serve, urging them to perform their duties to the best of their abilities and to avoid actions that could harm the organization. He prompted them to report any corrupt activities they encounter in their workplace or surrounding areas to the Commission via the Eagle Eye App, the official fraud reporting application of the EFCC.

The training aimed to familiarize new N-HYPPADEC employees with undesirable attitudes and behaviors that could affect their work.

In a related matter, the EFCC and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have agreed to strengthen their inter-agency collaboration in line with their respective mandates.

This agreement was established during a familiarization visit by Sani Alhaji Lokoja, the Zonal Director Northwest of NEMA, to Bawa Usman Kaltungo, the acting Zonal Director of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.

Lokoja expressed his appreciation for the significant impact of the EFCC's anti-corruption efforts and emphasized the importance of support from well-meaning Nigerians in the fight against corruption for the benefit of the nation and its people. He noted the existing collaboration between the EFCC and NEMA and expressed a desire to enhance this relationship, discussing ways in which the EFCC could assist NEMA in fulfilling its responsibilities.

In response, Kaltungo thanked Lokoja and his team for their visit and acknowledged NEMA's commitment to collaborating with the EFCC and its service to the public. He stated that the EFCC welcomes partnerships that benefit both the public and governmental agencies, reinforcing the idea that the fight against corruption is a collective endeavor. He urged NEMA to prioritize transparency and accountability while fulfilling its duties, particularly concerning public safety.
