The situation in Haiti — gang violence, severe hunger, instability — is dire.

The state of affairs in Haiti is dreadful, marked by gang violence, extreme hunger, and instability.
 
I described at the UN how Canada is bringing the whole community together behind the objective of ensuring the safety and security of the Haitian people:
 
assisting Prime Minister @ConilleGarry's transitional administration in its efforts to return Haiti to a more prosperous and democratic course.
 
assisting the Red Cross in providing food, medication, and humanitarian relief right away.
 
Moreover, fighting organized crime means preventing young people from becoming entangled in its webs.
