On the first day, a firefight in the Tunga area led to the neutralization of two bandits, with subsequent operations involving the destruction of numerous bandit settlements and the use of aerial support to engage and eliminate scores of them. The commander of the 12th brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, personally led further efforts to boost troop morale and ensure effective dominance of the area.

On September 2nd, intelligence-driven operations with the support of 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group resulted in the successful air engagement of fleeing bandits in Ankomi, leading to the death of many more. Troops continued with clearance operations in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities, where they rescued Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children, reuniting them with their family. Five locally made dane guns were also recovered during these operations.

The most recent success was recorded on September 5th, when a notorious bandit commander named Kachalla Bala and five of his men were killed in a gun battle near Tunga. Additionally, an ambush operation along the Agbede-Adankoo Bridge resulted in the death of a bandit logistics courier and the seizure of a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine with 20 rounds of ammunition.

These efforts are part of the ongoing commitment by the Nigerian Army to restore peace and security to the affected communities in Kogi State and across the country. The use of combined tactics, including ground operations and aerial support, as well as intelligence gathering, is proving effective in the ongoing fight against banditry and other forms of terrorism.
