Prime Minister Carney expressed his condolences upon learning of the passing of the Hon. Ken Dryden, a notable figure in Canadian hockey, a hall of famer, and a dedicated public servant. Dryden was a six-time Stanley Cup Champion and a five-time Vezina Trophy winner, as well as serving as Minister of Social Development and a committed member of Parliament.

Dryden inspired many, including myself, to take up goaltending, although I was never able to replicate his skill or technique.

His decision to return to university during his peak playing years underscored the importance of maintaining balance in life. His activities after hockey highlighted his commitment to public service.

Few Canadians have contributed as much or represented our country as prominently as he did.

Ken Dryden exemplified the best of Canada. Rest in peace.
