A Heartfelt Tribute to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Newfoundland and Labrador

As we reflect on the tireless efforts to combat the devastating wildfires in our region, we would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Newfoundland and Labrador. From day one, they have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us, providing invaluable support and resources to mitigate the crisis.

The RCMP's Incident Command Unit was swiftly deployed, supplemented by officers from across the province and beyond, ensuring that adequate personnel were available to safeguard the North Shore area while maintaining their regular duties in the CBN region. Beyond their visible presence on the front lines, they worked diligently behind the scenes, securing the evacuation zone and center, as well as responding to fire and emergency calls in the CBN area.

What's more, their commitment to the community was exemplified by one officer's remarkable offer to volunteer with HGVFB, hauling hose on her days off – a testament to the RCMP's unwavering dedication to serving others.

We salute every member of the RCMP, as well as their communications team in St. John's, for their outstanding contributions to our collective efforts. Your selflessness, expertise, and collaborative spirit have made a profound impact on our community. We are forever grateful for your service. THANK YOU!
