Their Honours had the privilege of visiting Carbonear Academy

"Today, Their Honours had the privilege of visiting Carbonear Academy, which has been transformed into a reception center for individuals affected by the devastating wildfire in Conception Bay North. The visit provided an opportunity to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the numerous volunteers, representatives from The Red Cross and The Salvation Army, and local residents who have come together to provide support to those in need.

The atmosphere at the center was filled with a mix of emotions, from concern and uncertainty to gratitude and appreciation. Their Honours took the time to engage with many residents, listening to their stories and concerns, and witnessed firsthand the robust network of support that has been established. The teachers who lost their school were particularly concerned about the future of their students, and Their Honours listened attentively to their worries.

Throughout the visit, it was evident that the comprehensive support services, including mental health and pastoral care, have been instrumental in providing comfort to those affected. The selflessness and compassion demonstrated by the hundreds of volunteers over the past two weeks have been truly humbling.
