While U.S. Central Command stated that U.S. forces were operating in Western Iraq on August 29, Kamala asserted at the debate with Trump that no U.S. personnel were in active combat zones.

More than 200 soldiers from the US and Iraq, including elite Army Rangers supporting the main attack group, hunted down fighters in bunkers over miles of isolated terrain, resulting in 7 US soldiers being injured.

Fourteen militants were killed in the operation, among them Abu Ali al-Tunisi, one of the key ISIS bomb manufacturers.

Long before the debate began on August 30, the operation was announced, and it would have been simple for ABC to Verify the facts.
