Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Alhassan Garba for suspected involvement in several cases of land fraud in Kaduna.

Garba is alleged to have posed as an estate agent while engaging in various land racketeering schemes, leading to significant financial losses for his victims. In one instance, he reportedly sold a piece of land for N14,500,000 (Fourteen Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira) and later, the victim discovered that the documents were forged and the land did not belong to Garba. Investigations revealed the victim transferred the funds into a UBA account provided by Garba, with further analysis showing that N900,000 (Nine Hundred Thousand Naira) and N8,800,000 (Eight Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) were transferred to him and to a company account, respectively.

In another case from October 2020, Garba, through an accomplice, approached a victim about a piece of land at Tsaunin Kura G.R.A, Sabonn Tasha, Kaduna, claiming it belonged to Muhammed Murtala Khalid. After expressing interest, the victim paid a total of N7,802,000 (Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Two Thousand Naira) in multiple installments into Khalid's Zenith Bank account, along with an additional N198,000 (One Hundred and Ninety-eight Thousand Naira) to Garba. The victim received a Grant Offer and a Deed signed by Khalid, but later found out that the land actually belonged to someone else.

On January 23, 2023, a report to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate indicated that Garba and five accomplices sold plots of land worth N32,000,000 (Thirty-two Million Naira) to a victim using fake title documents in March 2018.

In 2022, Garba and two others allegedly posed as legitimate owners of a plot of land located at No. 33B Yusuf Hamisu Road T.P.O Government Area Center Residential Layout Mahuta Igabi L.G.A. of Kaduna State. They sold this plot for N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira), which the victim later discovered did not belong to them.

Garba previously jumped the Commission's administrative bail and was re-arrested on August 12, 2025, after being located in Kabala Costain, Maiduguri Road, Kaduna.

He will be arraigned in court once investigations into the related cases are concluded.
