Today, our nation comes together to commemorate National Peacekeepers' Day, a poignant occasion to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to promoting peace and stability around the world. As a mark of respect, flags at Government House are flying at half-mast to honor the significant contributions of members from the Canadian Armed Forces, The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, provincial and municipal police forces, as well as Canadian diplomats and civilians who have participated in peacekeeping missions.

This day serves as a poignant reminder of the invaluable role that peacekeepers play in maintaining global harmony and protecting vulnerable communities. Their selfless efforts, often in the face of immense danger and adversity, have saved countless lives and brought hope to regions torn apart by conflict.

As we reflect on the sacrifices made by these courageous individuals, we are also reminded of the importance of continued international cooperation and diplomacy in the pursuit of peace. In this spirit, Government House will be illuminated in United Nations blue this evening, a powerful symbol of our nation's commitment to upholding the principles of peace, justice, and human rights.

On this National Peacekeepers' Day, we take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to those who have served, and continue to serve, in this noble pursuit. Your bravery, compassion, and dedication are an inspiration to us all, and we remain steadfast in our support for your efforts to create a more peaceful and harmonious world.
Lieutenant Governor Marie Joan
