The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) West District General Investigation Section (GIS) recently made a significant arrest in a drug trafficking case with the help of RCMP Police Service Dog (PSD) Noah. On August 1, 2025, a 26-year-old man was taken into custody in Grand Falls-Windsor for being in possession of cocaine with the intention of trafficking it.

The operation began when RCMP West District GIS, along with Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP, executed a search warrant at a local residence. PSD Noah played a crucial role in the search process, which led to the discovery of cocaine, Zopiclone, an imitation firearm, and various drug-related paraphernalia.

The accused individual is facing charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine. Following his arrest, he was released and is scheduled to appear in court on a later date. The investigation remains open as authorities continue to gather information and evidence.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing issues with drug trafficking in the region, particularly the prevalence of cocaine. RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador had previously issued a public warning that cocaine is currently the most common substance associated with overdose deaths in the province. They emphasized that unlike opioid overdoses, which can be counteracted with naloxone, cocaine overdoses require immediate medical intervention. If you suspect someone is experiencing a cocaine overdose, do not delay in seeking professional medical help.
