The President of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, recently received a courteous visit from officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to express their appreciation for agreeing to host the Duke of Edinburgh's Award event next week. The delegation, headed by Permanent Secretary Mr. Meli Nacuva, thanked the President for his ongoing support of youth empowerment initiatives in the country. In return, His Excellency recognized the Ministry's dedication to enhancing opportunities for Fijian youth.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme is an international program that originated in 1956 in the United Kingdom under the guidance of HRH Prince Philip, Kurt Hahn, and Lord Hunt. Initially developed to address youth development gaps post-World War II, the program focuses on fostering resilience, self-esteem, and community service among young individuals. The scheme has since grown into a renowned platform for personal achievement and leadership development.

The Fijian government's collaboration with such initiatives underscores its commitment to the holistic growth of its younger population, aligning with the global vision of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award to provide a balanced framework for personal growth and social contribution. This meeting signifies the continued support and promotion of such values within the nation's youth development strategies.
