Flash Mob of Teens Ransack Los Angeles Convenience Store, Leaving Owner Feeling Helpless

A brazen act of shoplifting was caught on camera at a convenience store in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday evening. A group of approximately two dozen high schoolers, described as a "flash mob" by the store owner, descended upon the business, making off with armloads of merchandise including candy, chips, and beer.

According to Jeremy Salib, the owner of the store, the incident was a premeditated and organized theft. Salib expressed frustration and helplessness, stating that he was unable to stop the large group of teenagers on his own. "Of course, they're gathering - so many of them - that I can't stop just one kid, right? It's 24, 25 kids, so it leaves me kind of helpless," he said.

The owner's frustration was further exacerbated by the response he received from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). When Salib called the authorities to report the incident, he was told that there was nothing they could do about it, as shoplifting is not considered a high-priority crime. "They said there was nothing they could do about it - that it's considered shoplifting and shoplifting isn't something they can really go after. So, that's that," Salib recounted.

The incident has left Salib feeling angry and helpless, and has raised concerns about the lack of support for small business owners in the face of organized crime. As the owner of a small convenience store, Salib relies on the sale of these items to make a living, and the loss of merchandise can have a significant impact on his business. The lack of action from the authorities has left him feeling vulnerable and unsure of how to protect his store from future incidents.
