21-Year-Old Tesla Driver Arrested for Dangerous Driving After Crashing into Power Pole in Abbotsford

In a recent incident reported by the Abbotsford Police Department, a 21-year-old individual driving a Tesla was apprehended for dangerous driving after a collision with a power pole on George Ferguson Way. The accident occurred shortly after midnight on Friday and resulted in a significant power outage affecting over 600 residents. The vehicle was allegedly traveling at high speeds along Bourquin Crescent West before the crash.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found the Tesla in a damaged state, having struck the power pole with enough force to knock out power to the surrounding area. The driver was immediately arrested and is set to appear in court to face charges of Dangerous Driving. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, despite the severity of the impact. Two passengers who were in the car at the time of the accident were initially detained but were later released.

The Abbotsford Police Department has been actively working to reduce the number of speed-related incidents on local roads, having already caught 282 drivers for excessive speeding so far this year. This event serves as a stark reminder of the consequences that can arise from disregarding traffic laws and driving at unsafe speeds.

The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings of reckless driving. Additionally, the public is encouraged to drive safely and respect speed limits to prevent similar occurrences in the future. BC Hydro is currently working diligently to restore power to the affected households and repair any damages caused by the incident.
