President of the Republic has appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs

The President of the Republic has appointed Counsellor for Foreign Affairs Riina-Riikka Heikka as the Head of Mission at Finland's Embassy in Nairobi, effective August 1, 2025.

Heikka will transition to this new role from her position as Head of Mission at the Embassy of Finland in Kathmandu, where she has served since 2022.

Previously, she held the role of Director of the Civil Society Unit at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Her diplomatic career includes positions at the Embassy of Finland in Washington, the Permanent Mission of Finland to the OSCE in Vienna, and the Permanent Mission of Finland to NATO in Brussels.
