Justice Nwite's ruling on Monday essentially rejected the application made by Bello for the temporary release of his passport to obtain a visa for medical treatment in the United Kingdom. The basis of his decision was centered on the credibility and sufficiency of the medical documents provided.

Exhibit A, the medical report from Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital in Okene, Kogi State, was signed by Dr. Oyerele Otuma, who stated that a consultant had examined Bello. However, the name of the actual consultant and their qualifications were not provided, which raised concerns for the judge regarding the report's authenticity and the consultant's ability to make such a report. The judge emphasized that only when an illness cannot be treated by any hospital in Nigeria should an individual be allowed to seek medical attention abroad.

Furthermore, Exhibit B, the outpatient appointment letter from the Physician Clinic Limited in London, was not signed by the author, which made it legally invalid. Justice Nwite highlighted that an unsigned document holds no legal weight and cannot be relied upon in court.

The judge also noted that Bello's condition, hypertension, had not been shown to be serious enough to require treatment that cannot be obtained in a Nigerian medical facility. Given these factors, Justice Nwite concluded that Bello had not met the necessary criteria to warrant the release of his passport for medical travel, and therefore, the application was refused.
