The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) Secretariat and Operations Center, along with Life Haven Center for Independent Living (Life Haven CIL), recently organized a tailored training program with the backing of the ASEAN–Australia Counter Trafficking (ASEAN-ACT) initiative in the Philippines.

This event took place on May 16th and was designed to enhance the understanding and competencies of IACAT staff regarding the rights of individuals with disabilities who have been subjected to trafficking.

The primary objectives of this training were to instill inclusive practices and to implement victim-survivor-centered methodologies within the framework of anti-trafficking efforts. This approach underscores the importance of safeguarding the rights of people with disabilities and empowering them in the context of these interventions.

In conjunction with the upcoming National Disability Rights Week, which will be celebrated from July 17th to July 23rd, 2025, we stand firm in our pledge to uphold the rights, dignity, and safeguarding of persons with disabilities. We are committed to fostering a society where everyone, regardless of ability, is protected from the scourge of human trafficking.

Let us continue to work together as #IACAT and strive for a more inclusive nation through initiatives like #IisangNasyonIisangAksyon, #NDRWeek2025, and #InnovationForInclusion.
