It was inspiring to connect with the RCMP's new Extortion Unit and learn about their efforts to combat organized criminal networks targeting Canadians. With extortion crimes rapidly increasing in areas like Surrey, our government is committed to supporting law enforcement agencies in addressing these issues. Legislation such as Bill C-2 is providing police with new tools and resources to dismantle organized crime networks effectively. Ruby Sahota also expressed gratitude to the Vancouver Police Department for taking the time to discuss concerns regarding violent repeat offenders, bail, and sentencing. Our conversation highlighted several potential changes that could bolster law enforcement's capacity to keep dangerous criminals incarcerated. The government will soon introduce legislation aimed at achieving this goal.
