"Update on Deerfoot Trail Accident

A serious collision occurred on the Deerfoot Trail, resulting in the closure of Northbound Deerfoot Trail between 17 Ave Southeast and Memorial Drive Northeast, as well as Westbound Memorial Drive from Barlow Trail Northeast to 12 Street Northeast.

The driver of the van involved was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, but has since been upgraded to serious but stable. The two occupants of the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes until the roads are reopened."
