US rapper Fatman Scoop passes away during a performance

According to his representative, US rapper Fatman Scoop passed away at the age of 53 after passing away during his performance in Connecticut on Friday.

He fell to the ground on stage in Town Centre Park in the city of Hamden midway through his performance.

The rapper was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance, according to a Facebook post by Mayor Lauren Garrett.

His booking agency, MN2S, however, informed the BBC in a statement that the New Yorker's "legacy will live on through his timeless music" after confirming his passing.

"Scoop was a beloved figure in the music world, whose work was loved by countless fans acrossspeaking voice.
"His iconic voice, infectious energy, and great personality made an indelible mark on the industry."

Scoop's family described him as "a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life" in a social media tribute.

"FatMan Scoop was not just a world class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle and a friend," the family added.

"He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength and courage."

Isaac Freeman III, better known as Scoop, is recognized for having had a significant impact on the 1990s hip hop landscape in New York City.

He has appeared on some well-known songs, such as Mariah Carey's It's Like That and Missy Elliott's Lose Control, which won a Grammy.
Be Faithful, a sleeper hit that Scoop launched in 1999 and achieved international popularity in 2003 by topping the charts in Ireland and the UK, is another song that is well-known.

The rapper had an appearance in the 2004 episode of Channel 4's UK TV series Chancers, which starred musicians coaching up-and-coming British musicians hoping to make it big in the US.

In 2015, Fatman Scoop participated in Celebrity Big Brother 16: UK vs. USA, a UK-hosted competition show. His expulsion was the third housemate's to occur.
