The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned a man named Collins Musa Inu Umoru before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. The accused is facing a two-count charge concerning fraudulent impersonation.

The charge alleges that between September 2024 and June 2025, Umoru posed as a white woman named "Mia Khalifa" on his Twitter account with the intention of deceiving others into providing him with financial instruments. This act is said to be in violation of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015.

Umoru pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. Following his plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and his remand in a correctional center. However, the defense counsel, Abdullahi Tony Daniel, presented a bail application, which was considered by the court.

Justice Osiagor granted Umoru bail in the sum of N5,000,000.00 with one surety in the same amount. The surety must be a relative of the defendant, have a reliable means of livelihood, and provide two passport photographs to the court's Registrar. The defendant was released into the custody of his lawyer until the bail conditions are met.

The case has been adjourned until November 25, 2025, for the commencement of the trial. The accused's alleged activities highlight the ongoing issue of cybercrime and identity theft in the digital age, and the EFCC's efforts to combat such activities in Nigeria.
