Fiji is set to host the King and Queen Nanasipau’u of the kingdom of Tongo

In a significant diplomatic event for the Pacific region, Fiji is set to host His Majesty King Tupou VI and Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau'u of the Kingdom of Tonga for a State Visit starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, and concluding on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

The official proceedings will kick off at the State House with a Guard of Honour featuring 100 men to receive His Majesty King Tupou VI. This will be succeeded by a Traditional Ceremony to extend a warm welcome to His Majesty and Her Majesty for their historic visit. During his time at the State House, His Majesty King Tupou VI will hold a courtesy meeting with His Excellency, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, the President of the Republic of Fiji. The first day of the State Visit will wrap up with a State Banquet in the evening at the State House. Later in the week, His Majesty and Her Majesty will travel to Lakeba, Lau, to attend the installation ceremony for Turaga Tui Nayau, Sau Ni Vanua Ko Lau, and Tui Lau, Ratu Tevita Lutunauga Kapaiwai Uluilakeba Mara, on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Their presence at this ceremony will underscore the shared heritage and strong historical and cultural connections between Lau and Tonga. This State Visit aims to enhance bilateral relations and regional cooperation between the two nations. It reflects the profound friendships, cultural ties, and our collective commitment to fostering peace and prosperity within the Pacific community. Moreover, this visit presents a valuable opportunity for both nations to strengthen collaboration on critical issues such as climate change, economic resilience, and sustainable development.
