The incident occurred when the elephant, which was with its calf, charged at the group of tourists despite guides firing shots to deter it. Both women were trampled to death. The British Foreign Office is providing support to the family of the British victim and liaising with Zambian authorities. The park is known for its wildlife conservation efforts, and authorities have previously advised tourists to be cautious around wild animals, especially when they have young ones. This is not the first such incident in the country, with two American tourists also killed in separate elephant attacks last year.
