The Honorable Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Mosese Bulitavu, emphasized the escalating effects of geo-strategic tensions, economic instability, and the intensifying climate crisis, along with its repercussions on poverty, inequality, and injustice while addressing French President Emmanuel Macron at the Sixth Pacific France Summit, which took place alongside the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France.

Minister Bulitavu noted that as significant powers partake in geopolitical rivalry, security issues are increasingly evident in the Pacific Region, which directly affects sovereign resources and the welfare of Pacific communities.

The Honorable Bulitavu recognized the primary threats confronting the Pacific region as climate change, illegal unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, pollution, and transnational crime, asserting that:

"For the Blue Pacific, safeguarding the welfare of our people, maintaining our resilience, and promoting people-centered development based on our own priorities and sovereign decisions is a fundamental objective within the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent."
