Barrier blocking Mount Fuji view removed - for now

The barrier that blocked the iconic view of Mount Fuji from a convenience store in Fujikawaguchiko was removed on August 15, 2024. The barrier had been installed in May 2024 to deter unruly behavior from tourists, including jaywalking, littering, and even climbing onto nearby rooftops for better photo opportunities. However, with Typhoon Ampil approaching, local authorities decided to take it down to prevent potential damage.

This removal allows tourists to once again enjoy unobstructed views of Mount Fuji. Authorities are monitoring the situation and may re-install the barrier if disruptive behaviors resurface.
