The Governor-General fulfills a significant ceremonial function in welcoming new Heads of Mission by officially recognizing their appointments.

Following the presentation of their credentials to the Governor-General, Her Excellency Ms. Yasoja Gunasekera, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, and His Excellency Mr. Chatoulong de, Ambassador of Laos, received a National Salute from Australia's Federation Guard.

Their national flags were hoisted, and the Australian Army Band performed their national anthems. 🇱🇦🇱🇰

Subsequently, the Guard Commander invited them to review the Guard of Honour and the Band, after which they were escorted by the Governor-General for their formal exit from Government House.

Later that day, they returned to Government House for a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony conducted by Ngunnawal Custodians Mr. Cheyne Halloran and Mr. Joel Bulger, followed by a luncheon with recently arrived Heads of Mission: Her Excellency Dame Sarah MacIntosh DCMG, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom, and His Excellency F. N. Borhan Uddin, High Commissioner of Bangladesh.
