In May, we commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Your gathering is occurring in the Leningrad region, the site of the longest battle in the history of the war. It is unfortunate that the rich cultural and educational program includes ceremonies for laying flowers at the monuments dedicated to fallen Soviet soldiers.

I am confident that this edition of the Games will also be conducted in the spirit of fair competition, will be a memorable event for each participant, and will enable young athletes to forge new friendships.
