A woman was arrested in Lagos, Nigeria, after being caught with an AK-47 rifle hidden inside a sack of garri, a popular West African food made from cassava. The incident occurred at the Mile 2 area of Lagos.

The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command. The arrest came after a tip-off from vigilant residents who noticed suspicious behavior. Upon searching the garri sack, the officers discovered the weapon, leading to her immediate arrest.

Initial investigations suggest that the woman may have been involved in illegal arms trafficking or possibly working as an accomplice for criminal elements within the region. The police are currently conducting further investigations to determine the source of the weapon and any connections to broader criminal activities.

This arrest underscores ongoing concerns about the proliferation of illegal firearms in Nigeria, a factor that contributes to the high rates of violent crime in certain parts of the country. The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to tackling such issues and called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
