PRESIDENT Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu SET TO DEPART FOR LAGOS TO CELEBRATE ECOWAS'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY AND INAUGURATE PROJECTS On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will travel from Abuja to Lagos to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), alongside fellow leaders.

The celebrations for the ECOWAS golden jubilee commenced in Accra last month. In Lagos, activities will include a reenactment of the 1975 declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Victoria Island. During an event at Eko Hotels and Suites, President Tinubu, who serves as the Chairman of ECOWAS, will discuss the significant achievements of the economic bloc. Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Chairman of the NIIA and former Minister of External Affairs, will reflect on the 50-year history of the organization, which will subsequently be analyzed by a panel at the NIIA. General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), the only living Head of State who signed the ECOWAS declaration, will attend all ceremonies and deliver a keynote address at Eko Hotels. Dr. Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, is slated to give the welcome address. While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also inaugurate several projects on Saturday, May 31. These projects include Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road, the launch of Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and the 7th Axial Road.

Additionally, the President will virtually commission the Kano-Kanwar-Danja-Hadejiya Section II Road and Yakasai-Zalli Road, and will flag off the Kano Northern By-pass, Zaria-Hunkuyi-Dabai Section I, Dabai-Kafur Malumfashi, and Malumfashi-Dayi-Yashe-Gidan Mutum Daya Section III. Before returning to Abuja, President Tinubu will partake in the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House, Dodan Barracks. May 26, 2025.
