The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is deeply disturbed by the unfounded accusations made by Mr. Paul Ibe, spokesperson for former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who claimed that Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, held a secret meeting with an unidentified politician.

During his appearance on Seun Okinbaloye's Politics Today on Channels Television on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Ibe expressed various theories, speculations, and assumptions regarding opposition politics and party defections. However, his assertions about Mr. Olukoyede's alleged meeting with an unnamed governor just forty-eight hours before the governor's defection to the ruling All People's Congress (APC) are entirely fabricated and in poor taste. Olukoyede has consistently emphasized his apolitical stance, and the EFCC is firmly committed to remaining free from partisan influences. The public is urged to dismiss the claims of this supposed meeting, as they are purely the product of Ibe's imagination.
