This strategic move provides passengers with access to 18 additional European cities through single-ticket itineraries with checked baggage that goes through to the final destination. The new routes, starting from May 29, connect travelers through Paris and Amsterdam, offering a seamless travel experience with more options and reduced layovers. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for travelers from Atlantic Canada, as they gain better connectivity across Europe. The flights from Calgary to Paris will operate daily using WestJet's 787 Dreamliners, while routes from Halifax and St. John's will utilize the 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The expansion reflects WestJet's evolving strategy to align more closely with major global airlines while maintaining its Canadian identity, as SkyTeam partners now hold a 25% stake in the company.
