On Tuesday emergency services were alerted to a truck fire on Deerfoot Trail near Airdrie, Calgary. The incident took place in the northbound lanes of the highway, causing considerable delays for drivers. Firefighters from both the Calgary Fire Department and Airdrie Fire Department promptly arrived to extinguish the fire, which had completely consumed the truck. Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed. The cause of the fire is under investigation, with preliminary reports indicating a possible mechanical failure. The truck, transporting electronics, was entirely destroyed. Deerfoot Trail was closed in both directions for about an hour, with traffic redirected to alternative routes.
Although the highway has since reopened, traffic remains sluggish in the vicinity. This incident highlights the necessity of regular vehicle maintenance and attentiveness while driving. The Calgary and Airdrie Fire Departments urge all motorists to ensure their vehicles are well-maintained and to be ready for emergencies. No further information is available at this moment, and the investigation continues.
