On the afternoon of yesterday at 1:31 p.m., the SouthBruceOPP responded to a reported drowning incident in Paisley.

Officers from the OPP, along with Bruce County Paramedic Services and Arran-Elderslie Fire & Emergency Services, attended to a call regarding an individual in distress in the Saugeen River.

The individual was rescued by bystanders and resuscitation efforts were initiated. Unfortunately, a 25-year-old male from Georgetown was later declared deceased. Our condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this tragedy. We extend our gratitude to the courageous members of the public who intervened during this emergency; their altruistic actions exemplify the resilience of our community. The investigation into the details surrounding this incident is currently underway.
