Two soldiers from the 135 Special Forces Battalion have been arrested and are now under investigation for their alleged involvement with ISWAP terrorists, according to reports from Zagazola Makama.

Military sources revealed that security intelligence tracked the soldiers' phone communications, linking them to the recent abduction of commuters on the Gashua–Azare highway in Yobe State. Intercepted calls suggested that the soldiers may have disclosed the patrol team's movements along the Buratai–Kamuya–Azare–Gashua route to the insurgents, which facilitated the ambush. It was noted that this suspected leak may have contributed to the terrorists' operation; however, it was ultimately thwarted by the troops of the 135 SF Battalion during a rapid rescue mission on May 9.
