The alleged airspace violation near the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands is the latest in a series of incidents that have heightened tensions between Japan and China over territorial claims in the East China Sea.

The Japanese government condemned the incident and called on China to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, on the other hand, accused Japan of making "false claims" and stated that China had "indisputable sovereignty" over the Diaoyu islands and the surrounding waters.

The Senkaku/Diaoyu islands are a group of uninhabited islands that lie about 300 kilometers (180 miles) northeast of Taiwan and 400 kilometers (250 miles) east of China's mainland. They are currently under the administration of Japan, which has controlled them since 1972, but China claims them based on historical records.

Both countries have frequently sent patrol vessels and aircraft into the area, which has led to a number of confrontations and accusations of airspace and territorial incursions. The situation is further complicated by the presence of potential oil and gas reserves in the seabed around the islands, as well as their strategic location in the region.

The US, which has a defense treaty with Japan, has also become involved in the dispute, stating that the islands are covered by the US-Japan mutual defense pact. This has led to concerns of a potential conflict involving the US, China, and Japan.

The Japanese government has called for a peaceful resolution to the issue through diplomatic means, but the situation remains tense, with both sides showing no signs of backing down from their respective claims.
