One individual has died and at least one other was hospitalized following a brawl in central Calgary that resulted in stabbings, according to police. Shortly before 2 a.m., officers responded to reports of a "large fight" occurring in a parking lot outside a bar located in the 700 block of 10th Avenue S.W. Investigators determined that the confrontation began at Commonwealth Bar and Stage. Upon arrival, officers found several victims with stab wounds. One victim, a 21-year-old male, was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Another individual is currently hospitalized in stable condition. Not long after, a third stabbing victim arrived at the hospital also in stable condition. Authorities are trying to determine if this person is connected to the initial fight. The third victim was discharged from the hospital on Saturday. Four people have been taken into custody in connection with the incident and are awaiting further investigation. Investigators suspect that some witnesses may have recorded the altercation and are urging anyone with cellphone or dashcam footage from the area to reach out. They are particularly interested in a witness who left the scene in a dark-colored Tesla, whom they believe was not directly involved in the fight. "This was likely an alcohol-fueled altercation that sadly resulted in one man's death. We are dedicated to uncovering the truth for the victim's family and urge anyone with information to come forward," stated Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson from the CPS Homicide Unit in a news release. The investigation has caused road closures in the Beltline neighborhood, with 10th Avenue S.W. shut down between 5th and 8th streets.
