Two officers from the Metropolitan Police, Inspector Darren Watson and Police Constable Abdi Osman, carried out an undercover operation on Westminster Bridge, disguising themselves as Batman and Robin. This innovative approach was utilized to apprehend scammers involved in illegal gambling activities, including the "three cups challenge" and the "shell game," which targeted unsuspecting tourists. The scammers had become skilled at evading conventional policing methods due to their knowledge of local officers. By wearing superhero costumes, the officers were able to catch two repeat offenders by surprise.

The arrested individuals were identified as Eugen Stocia, 32, and Constica-Gherorghe Barbu, 53. Barbu was found guilty at Croydon Magistrates' Court and fined £925. Stocia did not appear in court and was convicted in his absence at Westminster Magistrates' Court; a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
