Soludo shared this information on Wednesday while addressing members of the All Progressives Congress who had defected to support his re-election with the All Progressives Grand Alliance. "Go to Indonesia; 23 Ndi Anambra are on death row there for drug-related offenses," he stated. He attributed this alarming situation to the influence of fraudulent native doctors who mislead young people into believing they can avoid detection during drug smuggling by using charms. "These native doctors deceive you into thinking they can prepare a charm that will make airport scanners unable to see the drugs," he explained. "Unfortunately, many of our people are now suffering in jails around the world because they believed these lies." Soludo cautioned that anyone found making such false promises would face arrest, pointing out that many of these self-proclaimed native doctors are unable to use their alleged powers to better their own lives. "One of the native doctors currently in detention has a son working as a waiter in Nnewi. If it were that easy, why hasn't he made his son wealthy?" he questioned. He further noted, "One individual we arrested claims to be merely a content creator, yet he has tricked our youth into thinking they can achieve wealth without effort, as long as they perform Oke Ite (money rituals)." The governor stressed that such beliefs hinder the mindset of the state's youth. "That's why you see young people waking up and heading to beer parlors, hoping to strike it rich someday," he added. Soludo clarified that the state does not oppose traditional religion but is committed to tackling those who promote harmful practices under the guise of spirituality. "We are not against traditional worshippers; we are against those perpetuating dangerous medicines and charms. We have historically recognized traditional practitioners who adhered to upright values." He concluded by asserting that the current wave of deceitful native doctors would not be tolerated, emphasizing his administration's dedication to combating Oke Ite and other quick-money schemes.
