Toronto's Pearson International Airport has recently been recognized as the leading high-volume airport in North America.

This accolade, presented annually by Airports Council International (ACI) World, a global trade organization representing airports, is part of the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards for 2025, and Pearson Airport has once again secured a prominent position.

Despite common complaints regarding its infrastructure, lengthy wait times, and even incidents such as planes landing incorrectly, ACI ranks Pearson among the top three airports catering to over 40 million passengers annually.

In the same high-volume category, Pearson is joined by Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, both located in the United States.

For Canadians who, due to the fluctuating trade relations with the United States, are opting for more local travel this year, St. John's International Airport in Newfoundland and Victoria International Airport in British Columbia have received accolades for airports accommodating fewer than 2 million passengers annually. Their facilities are likely to be exceptionally well-maintained!

Pearson Airport previously held this title for five consecutive years from 2017 to 2022, losing it in 2023, but it seems to be regaining momentum, having received recognition again last year.

According to ACI, the award honors airports that achieve a "top 20 percent overall satisfaction score by size and region at departure," based on feedback collected from travelers using these airports.

ACI's website states, "We provide airports with a unique array of customer experience solutions, including detailed customer and employee surveys, benchmarking tools, and advisory services to foster airport excellence globally."

In simpler terms, if you were to receive a tablet at Pearson with a survey to complete, you might not take it too seriously.
