As the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force and the daughter of an army veteran, the Governor-General participated in the 'March On' event alongside Soldier On, the Chief of Navy, and both current and former service members, completing a portion of the extensive 96 km journey that represents the length of the Kokoda Track. This walk pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifices made by our defence personnel while simultaneously raising awareness and funds for Soldier On's initiatives aimed at supporting veterans and their families.

The Governor-General conveyed her profound appreciation to Paul Singer CVO, CEO of Soldier On, along with the team, members, and supporters for their trauma-informed care, which benefits over 10,000 veterans across various dimensions of wellbeing, including physical and mental health, social and economic stability, and the transition to civilian life and community reintegration.

She further recognized the vital awareness that Soldier On fosters regarding the issue of veteran suicide, emphasizing the organization's commitment to ensuring that veterans and their families receive the necessary support.

The occasion was marked by a deep sense of privilege, gathering at Admiralty House under the splendid Sydney weather, while reflecting on the thousands of Army, Air Force, and Navy personnel stationed along the coast, providing assistance to communities affected by Cyclone Alfred.
