A day after their first political showdown  in  the 2024 election, both President Biden and former President Donald Trump continued  to  campaign.
 
  At  a rally in North Carolina on Friday, Biden, 81,  admitted  he  didn't  have the best debate performance but said that even  if  he  "doesn't  debate as well as  he  used  to,"  he's  still the  better  person for the job.

  Biden's  hoarse voice, which his campaign blamed on a cold, and verbal  blunders  during the debate sparked  concern  among some Democrats who hoped the  evening  would  prove  that  Biden's  age  is  not  an  issue. At  Friday's  rally, Biden said that  although  he  is  not  as young as he once was,  "I  know how to tell the  truth."

  Hours later,  Trump,  78,  held a campaign rally in  Virginia  where he mocked  Biden's  debate  performance  but  said,  "It's  not his age,  it's  his  competition."  .  Biden and Trump  squared  off  throughout the debate, with both calling the other the worst president in  American  history.  S.
