President Bola Tinubu has called for greater cooperation amongst the nation's security forces. At the opening ceremony of the 2025 Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, which took place in Abeokuta on Monday, Tinubu made this statement on behalf of Vice President Kashim Shettima. The program's topic is "Improving Nigeria's Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing," according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). In order to eradicate banditry, abduction, armed robbery, and other types of criminal activity, the president stated that cooperation between all security agencies was still essential. According to him, internal security is essential to fostering an atmosphere that attracts investment and enterprise. He also said claimed his administration had given operational capability top priority to security services, making sure they were prepared to handle crises and successfully fight crime. The president emphasized that the issue of the conference was in perfect harmony with the main goals of his administration. "We are dedicated to promoting economic expansion by utilizing the enormous potential of our natural and human resources."But without a secure internal security environment from cooperating states, this goal is impossible. "I reiterated our administration's dedication to strengthening the Nigeria Police Force's (NPF) institutional capacity, making it more efficient and capable of carrying out its constitutional mandates," he said.

Tinubu stated that through extensive and long-term programs, the current administration was attempting to repair holes in the security equipment and infrastructure. "Among the initiatives are the renovation of police barracks, incorporating mobility and improving necessary protective gear and combats. "The Nigeria Police Force will undoubtedly be repositioned and inspire confidence thanks to these continuous efforts and state government efforts," he added. The president listed other actions taken to improve the welfare of Nigerian workers, especially police officers, including the introduction of the new minimum wage. He declared, "We will keep working with police leadership to offer financial incentives to encourage officers and all security personnel to give their best effort." Tinubu clarified that his government is still dedicated to helping NPF fulfill its vital responsibility of maintaining Nigeria's security and unity. Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), stated in his remarks that the meeting provided an essential forum for assessing the police administrative and operational strategies. Egbetokun explained that it was also an avenue to exchange insights and realign policing objectives with the nation's evolving global security landscape. "Building on the successes of previous conferences, we have undertaken major reforms in investigative procedures, prioritising forensic analysis, digital case management, and improved judicial collaboration. "The reorganisation of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and other specialised units has been a priority, ensuring that our detectives operate in line with globally accepted best practices. "Moving forward, all commands and formations have been mandated to implement a comprehensive action plan aimed at reducing crime rates by 50 per cent in 2025," he said. Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun commended the leadership of NPF for its commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians. Abiodun reaffirmed that his administration would continue to assist all security agencies in safeguarding a peaceful state defending Nigerians' property and life. Abiodun reiterated that his government would keep supporting the security forces in preserving a state of peace.
