When officers from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA, found the illegal shipment in her boxes, they arrested a 24-year-old Thai woman named Ms. Pattaphi Wimonnat for attempting to smuggle 43 packages of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 46.60 kilograms, into Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, or MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos. According to a statement from NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the suspect who admitted to being a hired drug trafficker was taken into custody on Thursday, February 20, 2025, while passengers on a Qatar Airways flight from Thailand via Doha, Qatar were being cleared inward at the Lagos airport's terminal 2 arrival hall.

She claimed that the drug gang that hired her assured her that she would receive $3,000 if the illegal narcotics shipment was successfully delivered in Nigeria. Babafemi added that on Friday, February 21, NDLEA officers also thwarted another attempt by a drug trafficking organization to ship 68 packages of Ghanaian loud, totaling 42.2 kg, to London, UK, through the export shed of the Lagos airport. The packages were hidden between walls of crated cartons. Before Samuel Bitris, the shipment's mastermind, was quickly located and taken to his residence in Exodus Estate, Ajah, Lagos, three suspects—a freight agent and two dispatch riders—were first taken into custody in relation to the seizure. Say no to drugs is the lesson. For additional updates, follow us on Clrroad Media-blog.
