Two  healthcare workers have been charged with allegedly defrauding an elderly victim of nearly $1 million in  Newmarket.

York police  said that on August 22, 2024, the victim  told police that a large amount of money had been withdrawn from  her bank account without  her knowledge.
An investigation revealed  that two suspects, one  of whom was employed  by the victim to care for  her, allegedly accessed  her bank information,  visited various financial institutions and withdrew nearly $1  million.
On February 6, 2025, Juvie Maputol, 38, who  works as a  social worker, and Lloyd Maputol, 37, who currently  works as a registered nurse, were charged with multiple  counts of fraud. A juvenile inmate in Richmond Hill  faces multiple charges, including  theft by  a person with authority, fraud, identity theft and  theft over  $5,000.
Lloyd, also of Richmond Hill,  was charged with  fraud over $5,000,  laundering the proceeds of  crime and  theft over $5,000.
Investigators released  his photos  because they believe there  are other suspected victims.
