A  shocking study found that air pollution  caused 16.6 million deaths in India  between 2009  and 2019.
Pollution levels (PM2.5)  have reached 119  µg/m³ in some  areas, far exceeding the  limit of 5 µg/m³ set by the World Health  Organization.
Each increase of 10  µg/m³ increases mortality by 8.6%.
Experts  have criticized India's "weak" air quality guidelines, calling for an urgent crackdown on emissions before this silent killer claims millions  of lives.
