Research by @MediaBezirgan found that  Uppal's brother was represented in 2008 by the same lawyer, Brian A. Beresh, who later represented another Singh involved in a historic 2023 cocaine bust in  Edmonton that resulted in the seizure of 40.5 kg of cocaine. In  this case, Alberta prosecutors dropped the charges without  giving any public explanation.
In  the 2014  drug-trafficking case of Uppal's brother, a stay of proceedings  was granted after  the Alberta Prosecution Services withdrew the charges. Similarly, in his 2008 case, 6 of 7  drug and  gun charges were dropped by Alberta  prosecutors.
Since May, we have made three attempts to obtain court records  related to the 2014 drug  charge against @TimUppal's brother, each attempt  costing $15. •First attempt: The courts lost the  case. •Second attempt: They sent the wrong file, which contained  gun charges from  2008 - an exclusive  revelation. • Third attempt:  they lost the file  again.

Today we filed  our application for the fourth time. This is both disappointing and frustrating. Albertans deserve better.
Tim Uppal  is close to Khalistani Sikhs for  Justice and his wife was an executive with  the World Sikh Organization. Why  are so many Singhs  arrested in  arms and drug trafficking cases?
