Nigeria's ongoing reforms are praised by the Saudi Crown Prince, who promises support.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, has promised to assist Nigeria with its economic reform initiatives.
Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Advisor for Information and Strategy, made this announcement.
It states that the guarantee was given during a meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Crown Prince on Monday in Riyadh, which was held in conjunction with the joint Arab-Islamic Summit.

The Saudi-Nigeria Business Council's constitution, infrastructure, agriculture, and oil and gas were among the possible areas of cooperation that the two presidents looked into.

Nigeria wants an agreement with the Saudi authorities about a potential $5 billion bilateral commerce centre, the statement continues the two nations.

In 2022, the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) paid $1.24 billion to purchase a 35.43% share in Olam Agri, one of the top agricultural companies in Nigeria.

The purpose of the negotiations is to increase SALIC's ownership in the business.

According to the announcement, the Saudis thought the investment would position Olam as one of the largest agro-allied companies globally.

The Crown Prince praised President Tinubu's economic reforms, pointing out that they were similar to the actions he took as prime minister to support Saudi Arabia's growth and stability.

Additionally, he pledged to support Nigeria and to inspire his staff to pursue the several cooperation opportunities that were mentioned during the discussion.

During the Crown Prince's meeting, the Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Minister of Defence, Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Minister of the National Guard, and a number of high-ranking officials.

The statement goes on to say that Nigeria and other member states of the Ministerial Committee, which is tasked with interacting with world leaders to try to put a stop to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon, have had their mandates renewed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit.

Following the exceptional Joint Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 11, 2024, a resolution was issued that included this conclusion.

Among those present were President Bola Tinubu and representatives from the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Under the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, was established by a resolution at the November 11, 2023, First Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh.

The foreign ministers of Nigeria, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Palestine, and Jordan are among those in the group.

The Ministerial Committee was instructed to "intensify its efforts and expand them to include working on ending the aggression on Lebanon" in the summit's final resolution.

The OIC and League of Arab States secretariats will provide the committee's periodic reports to member states.

In order to increase worldwide support for putting an end to the war and Israeli occupation, the Committee has also been entrusted with further involving actors from the Global South.

The resolution emphasized how crucial it is to preserve maritime passages in accordance with international law and praised the African Union, OIC, and League of Arab States signing the tripartite mechanism to support the Palestinian cause.

The African Union's unwavering support for Palestine was commended at the conference.

The leaders denounced recent Israeli military operations in northern Gaza, calling them "crimes of genocide" and citing claims of "ethnic cleansing," torture, killings, and disappearances.

They also called for the union of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem under a sovereign Palestinian state and denounced continued attempts to establish Israel's presence in occupied East Jerusalem, reiterating its status as Palestine's "eternal capital."

"The full sovereignty of the State of Palestine over occupied East [Jerusalem], the eternal capital of Palestine," was reaffirmed in the resolution. It denounced any moves by Israel to change the identity of the city or strengthening its occupation.

Unwavering support for Lebanon's security, stability, sovereignty, and residents' safety was also conveyed at the summit.
