The Kamala Harris Administration has been financing the development with US tax payer funds.

"Mr. Chairman, I stand in favour of my amendment, which prohibits the funding of any grant pertaining to a transgenic edible vaccine using any of the monies made available by this act. Is the phrase "transgenic edible vaccine" unrealistic? No, it isn't. We're paying for it.

Indeed, researchers at the University of California, Riverside, supported by your tax dollars, have been investigating the possibility of converting food plants like spinach and lettuce into mRNA vaccine factories in order to produce a transgenic edible vaccine.

According to a UCR associate professor, a single plant should ideally generate enough mRNA to vaccinate one individual.

Our long-term objectives are for people to grow it in their own gardens, and we are testing this strategy with lettuce and spinach. In time, farmers might be able to cultivate whole fields of it. This is not a smart concept, in my opinion.

The only animals that can receive these transgenic edible plant vaccinations are cattle. Indeed, they have been employed for livestock.

They're being used for people as well. Many of these projects that we are sponsoring with USDA funds are designed to achieve that goal.

"I believe that a secure food supply is necessary. It has to do with food security. In the end, the citizens of this nation must be aware of the ingredients in their food. Additionally, the pollen may spread and we may not know what would happen if we begin tainting the DNA of our food with viruses or other animals.
