Regarding the proposed federal oil and gas production cap, we have released the following statement in conjunction with Ministers of Energy and Minerals Brian Jean and Environment and Protected Areas Rebecca Schulz:
Families, businesses, and the Canadian economy will all suffer as a result of this production cap. Our province, our nation, and our constitutional rights will all be protected.
Without a doubt, this cap is against the constitution of Canada. Although Section 92A expressly grants provinces sole authority over the exploitation of non-renewable natural resources, this cap will necessitate a production reduction of one million barrels per day by 2030.

The evidence is overwhelming. According to three reports from credible companies, these laws will severely hurt Canada's economy, resulting in a million barrels being reduced daily and $28 billion in losses annually, according to S&P Global.

GDP, according to Deloitte, whereas the Conference Board of Canada estimates that up to 150,000 jobs were lost.

The economy will lose billions of dollars annually as a result of the GDP losses. For a rash ideological plan that won't lower global emissions, billions of dollars will not be used to build new roads, schools, or hospitals.

In the end, this cap will cause social and economic collapse in Alberta and our nation. Up to $419 less would be available each month for groceries, electricity, and mortgage payments for the typical Canadian household. As Justin Trudeau transfers responsibility for supplying safe, reasonably priced, dependable, and ethically produced oil and gas to autocrats and less clean producers worldwide, Canadian workers and parents will suffer. Instead, we might be the answer Ottawa would prefer to forgo our leadership skills.

Tweaks are ineffective. This cap needs to be thrown away. The government of Alberta is currently investigating all available legal options, including using the Alberta Sovereignty within a United Canada Act and bringing a constitutional challenge. We will not tolerate the federal government's extremist agenda at the expense of our prosperity, our constitution, and our standard of living.
