It is just as crucial to protect children's rights in schools as it is in every other aspect of their life.

To protect the rights of all children and youth in our province, our government is introducing the Education Amendment Act as one of the three pieces of legislation. Should the act be approved, it would need:

Students who wish to use a new gender-neutral name or pronoun who are 15 years of age or less must inform their parents and get their permission.
👉 Although students 16 and 17 could be permitted to do so without parental approval, parents must still be informed.
👉Every time a topic in the classroom primarily and directly addresses gender identity, sexual orientation, or human sexuality, parents should be informed.
Parental consent is necessary for attending classes on human sexuality, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
