Members of Lord Strathcona's Horse regiment are seen marching in front of Buckingham Palace as they proceed to take their position at Horse Guard in London, U.K., on July 18, 2025.
The Canadian military incurred an expenditure of approximately $125,000 to send soldiers for the purpose of guarding the entrance to Buckingham Palace over a 10-day period in July.

The Edmonton-based Lord Strathcona's Horse regiment was dispatched to the British capital for this assignment, which took place from July 11 to 21. Utilizing British horses, they performed their duties as the ceremonial King's Life Guard at the Horse Guards building in London, which safeguards the entrances to Buckingham Palace, St. James's Palace, Windsor Castle, and the Tower of London.
